Touch is more than the physical sensation. It passes on more and it means more.
Friends shake hands or hug when they meet. False friend give air kisses that do not touch. Emenies do not touch, they don't even come close to each other. If someones spouse stops touching them, it is BIG trouble. When someone is aching or ill even just a hand resting on them often alleviates the pain in the whole body. This is not the laying on of hands. That is a supernatural experience that is wholly different. Often at work when I rest my hands on someones shoulders and pretend to give them a shoulder massage they love it. They just melt and often verbally appreciate it. Foot massages are something entirely different !!! Oh la la. Anyone heard/had a spanish foot/toe massage. I can feel energy and blockages wooshing from peoples toes when I do it. I'll add to this later, feel free to contribute |

Often people will say "Let me see it" and hold out their hand to hold the object.
They want to touch it. They are not content with seeing it. I have tested this by holding the object up so they can SEE it, but not touch it. No, they want to hold it. To feel it. Objects have an added reality to them, when they are felt. If they cannot be felt it is a dimension of the object that is missing. It is not as credible. Same as things like pluto. earth is different as I have felt it myself. People in clothes shops run their hands over the clothes. Touchy feely people are well liked. It is a very strong real way of communicating, knowing others. One of my touchy feely mates said a hug has to last at LEAST 3 seconds (I think) to be .... "felt" fully. Another friend is just not a hugger. But my g/f and I "trap" him at times and give him the full 3 second hug. He is as stiff as a board initially, but by now knows us so is used to it. :-) You're allowed to do that to brothers. |

hahha, no, foot massages are ...... intimate. very much so.
it is like electricity in my forearms at times. I could feel when g/f was ... "right" within herself. Am looking for the part why things like foot massages are special. |

This posting is all Bible stuff, so feel free to skip over it.
Sorry, I can't find the verse I had remembered. maybe I had remembered it wrong ? Right from Genesis, touch is important and significant of the caring for others. "Come, let's sell him to the Ishmaelites and not lay our hands on him; after all, he is our brother, our own flesh and blood." His brothers agreed. genesis 37:27 The layoing on of hands (touch) is not a "weird rare occurrance. It is common, nominal. "He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them." Mark 6:5 At times, touch can impart immense powers "Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. " Acts 8:17 Touch is so significant, it should be done with caution. "Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, and do not share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure. " 1Timothy 5:22 The Holy Ghost is passed on through physical touch. to touch others may have loving powerful effects "For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. " 2Timothy 1:6-7 |

Touch is very important to newborns and young children and through-out life for mental wellbeing and human development. Hair dressers play this role more than many would think, particularly for old and isolated members of the community. Some would argue that manicurists pedicurists also cater for this need. I wonder if in the old days when barabers shaved men that was felt as a pleasant touch- it would seem threatening to me to have a razor at my throat like that.
