Yet they are very hard to control.
Without a moments hesitation they can erupt causing years of damage.
Tongues start wars. A cutting retort will start a divorce or a rift in a family.

A single word in a sentence can change the whole intent of the sentence.
One sharp reply can alter a whole relationship for weeks.
A whole horse is directed by the bit in its mouth. An ocean liner turned by the rudder.
A persons life can be changed by an ill tempered ill kept tongue.

A sarcastic unwarranted reply pours scorn where none should be.
The good reply is a soothing balm to the scalds of life.
Good diplomats are well regarded, they stop wars and avoid conflict.
