I live on the border of Smithfield and Granville, I am in Granville electorate but can walk a few paces and be in smithfield.

You will find that many people who stand live no where near their electorates.

The  separation  of church and state was written originally so as to prevent sectarian violence between catholics and protestants, the people who wrote the constitution never envisioned for Christianity to be separate from government. Proof of this can be found in the fact that parliament is and always has been opened by the LORDs prayer. The Constitution can only be interpreted from the perspective of its original authors. there is no sense interpreting it from our modern perspective that would be anachronistic .

I plan to vote for the CDP at the next federal election but that is mainly based on their views of halting immigration and protecting us from the muslim horde. There are nice muslims but it is their religion that I fear. Their religion does not respect human life. An eye for an eye says it all. If they become a majority our freedoms will be lost.

I do not blame the individual for looking for an alternative religion when they feel that christianity has let them down, it just means that they have no faith in the Lord Jesus. As I said, I have met many nice muslims but when I look at what the religion has done to all the predominately muslim countries in the world I feel sorry for them and know that whatever God they follow is no longer around.

I wish your party every success at the next federal election.

Separation of Chrich and state was just as much a way to protect the chruch from the state as it is to protect the state from the church. There were plenty of European monarchs and other dictators who would have taken over the church to cement their power if given the opportunity.

There are some secular muslim countries. Furthermore there were periods in history where the same analysis would have lead you to believe that Christianity cripples nations while Islam frees them. It is nothing inherent to either religion. It's just the way the world happens to be at the moment.

The CDP is not a church, nor is it a theocratic party.


You do not have to belong to any particular church to be part of the CDP. In fact more the CDP is actually in support of the separation of Church and state, and believes no curch should be activly represented in parliament.

It is a Party with all members being Christian, there is no party line and every vote in parliament is left to concience, other than that there is no difference from the CDP to every other party.

the CDP sees it to be of extreme importance however that Justice and what is right by god is upheld in parliament, and decisions in parliament are not just made by following party lines, but  also made with the use of concience.

Policy actually dictates that the CDP supports all non violent religious practice of every kind, unlike various theocratic governments in power.

I might add that you cannot separate Religion and the State as religion encompasses peoples entire exhistance, to separate the two you would have to remove every religious person from politics (I know some of you would agree with that idea ;)).

The Church and State must be separated, so that Leaders in the Church do not get consumed by power as has happened previously.

Well put freediver. I have taken this on board as you are right and sometimes we can forget about history. What happens I think is that evil people end up at the top of something good and they manipulate that power to push their ideals for self benefits. Mainly I think to protect their rise in power.

I get the feeling your assertion is just a guess that you seek to justify with the bit about the Lord's Prayer. This is known as confirmation-bias, where a person says "I believe this." and then looks for the evidence.
Now, I am not saying I am right, but you need to show us the actual discussion and decision where conflict between the big Christian groups was the reason for the separation of Church and State in our Constitution. It certainly wasn't with Henry VIII, and without facts, there is no reason to believe it here.
