Title: live cow fails to plug mud hole
Post by freediver on Dec 30th, 2006 at 3:54pm
In an effort to stem the flow of mud from a drilling operation gone wrong, indonesians have taken to throwing whole live cows and other animals into the boiling mud. Not just for fun, but in expectation that it would stop the flow. Maybe if they dropped a really big cow, or an elephant, from a great height it might do something. If anything, the sacrifices appear to have made the flow worse, and whole villages have been swamped to a height of up to two stories.

I thought indonesia was a strong islamic country. Does this go against the teachings of islam, or is it fairly tolerant of this sort of 'mysticism'?

I hadn't heard that.  How sickening.  What a cruel, ignorant world we live in - although I suppose human life means so little, who cares about animals.  Well I certainly do being an ardent animal lover, but animal welfare seems to be waning these days as the mighty dollar becomes the single most important God in so many lives.

When you hear a story like this - another tragedy in a third world country, you wonder if the perpetrators of this mudslide will be brought to justice - or because of their wealth, get off with the usual slap on the wrist.

The comapny responsible is being forced to pay compensation. An Australian company, Santos, has a big share in it. There was also a small earthquake in the area before it happened, which may have had something to do with it. The company is also part funding a soap opera set in the aftermath of the incident.

I hope the soap opera is not being made to portray this tragedy.  Santos has been warned before - I didn't realise they were involved.

We always hear that these big corporations will pay compensation - but often it is never received.

This will no doubt happen in Australia eventually as more and more laws are relaxed for foreign mining companies and safety regulations for their workers are downgraded.

I wonder if it happened in a Hindu country.
Would they throw their cows in too? :-?

They only throw cows because FleaDriver is not available to the Indonesians.

FleaDriver has excavated a story that is decades old and for which there is no evidence.

Yes, Santos was involved in creating the mud volcano disaster.

Another act of hate propagation by FleaDriver.

Necromancy is much like Archeology. Lest we forget.  ;)
I did lose the Election Carl D. I have kept my promises, unlike Monk.
I promise. If I become MOD of an ART Board (for Paintings and other forms of Art) - I will 'promise' you, that I'll stop the Necromancy (except in my own Board).

This is an example of hate propaganda by FleaDriver.

It is impossible for a man or even a group of men to "throw" a live cow.

Lies and slander and hate propaganda.

Three Fingers Haji Gordon, silence please. I threw you into the Ozpolitic volcano wearing your goat costume and you have come up sputtering and blubbering cries of vengeance.

I suspected your dags would corrupt the operation.

Video review reversed the decision.
